Our club is involved in a variety of projects that involve fundraising, community service, and assisting children locally and worldwide.  Below are the projects in which we are currently involved:

FUND RAISING PROJECTS: The funds raised from the duck race, flag program, and candy sales are used to support the many community projects that the Florence Kiwanis Club participates in. Our primary aim is to support the youth of our community.

KIWANIS DUCK RACE: The Great Florence Kiwanis Duck Race is held every year on the 4th of July at the Siuslaw Marina.  Tickets are sold for $5.00 each beginning in May until race day. For more information email

FLAG PROGRAM: American flags are put out on the streets of Florence on 10 holidays of the year to commemorate our patriiotism and heritage. Over 40o flags are put on Hwy 101, Bay Street and many of the side streets, including Kingwood. Over 20 Kiwanis volunteers contribute their time to put out the flags in the morning and take them down in the late afternoon. The Flag program is funded by sponsorships by businesses and individuals who pay $30.00 per year for each flag. SEE'S CANDY SALES: We sell See's Candy during the month of December for Christmas and February for Valentine's Day. Candy is usually sold at the Sear's store on Hwy 101. For more information or to preorder larger quantities, contact us at


Free Lunch: Prepare and serve lunch for those in need on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the United Methodist church at Kingwood and 2nd st. Lunch is served there every Tuesday and Thursday by a different organization. To volunteer or get more information contact

KDCCP: Coordinate and raise funds for the Kiwanis Doenbecher Children's Cancer Program. Includes Coins for Kids Program and the annual raffle of a Ford Mustang.For more information contact

Kiwanis Scholarships: Coordinate the award of thousands of dollars in scholarships annually to outstanding high school students. For mor information contact

Rhody Festival Kids Games: Plan and coordinate the annual kids games following the Rhodendron Festival Junior parade in May. To get more information contact

Sponsored Youth: Supports the Key Club in the high school and the Builders club in the middle school. Both clubs are aimed at building a spirit of citizenship in our youth.

Thanksgiving Community Dinner: Coordinates with the Forence Elks the planning and presentation of the annual Community Free Thanksgiving Dinner held every Thanksgiving Day at the Florence Elks Lodge. To volunteer or get more information contact

FireWood Program: Cuts firewood and delivers it to families in need of heat for their home. For more information contact

Membership: We are always looking for new members to help us expand these projects. Our club meets every Wednesday for lunch at the Florence Elks Lodge from 12-1 PM. If you woul like to join us, contact us at
